Adobe Reader
This is the
program to read/open PDF - files. It is a free program from the company
Adobe.
Adsense
Adsense is
a program of Google where the advertisements are displayed not
only on the search sites but also on normal sites of whoever wants to
display ad´s and getting payed by Google everytime someone
clicks
on these ad´s. Anyone can participate in the Adsense program
to
display ad´s. These ad´s are the same
ad´s as with
Adwords. In the Adsense there are several possibilties you can choose
from on how you want the ad´s being displayed. Who places
ad´s with Adwords can choose if he also wants the
ad´s to
appear on the Adsense sites (option content) or only on the search
sites.
AdTracking
Every promotion campaign can be tracked by a
program called
adtracker to find out where the visitor to your site comes from. This
is very important to know because you always should find out and check
which campaign gives best results.
Adwords
One of the
best and most used ways to get traffic almost immediately is by the
Adwords program of Google.
This is a pay per click (PPC) advertising program.When you are looking
for something with the search engine of Google
than you will see on the
right-side of the screen some advertisements related to the words
(keywords) that were used. Only when someone clicks
on the ad the advertiser will get charged. This means a very affective
way of advertising because one only gets interested people to your site
and only pay for people really visiting the site. One pays per
click! For
the
keywords you want your Ad displayed you can bid on the price
per click.
Affiliate
Selling/promoting
other peoples
products to get a commission is called affiliate. For every
sale you get a
commission which is automatically adminstrated. You only need to get an
identifying code
for yourself as an affiliate and making the advertisemts or maillings
whatever way you choose to do the promoting. In the advertisements or
mails are included your unique affilliate code. Especially for
beginners the best and easiest way to make easy money on the Internet
is by participating in affiliate programs.
Autoresponder
This is a
program
or a (paid) service from a provider which automatically responds to the
people who filled out the form. This autoresponder you
can program
to send out several messages on diferent days to the
client with special offers. This is an automatic system that can be
set/programmed by yourself once and then runs automatically.
Blogs
Personal
sites of individual persons with pictures and
personal stories of that person. These sites are easy create and
maintain without programming on specific blog-site provider. One can
invite friends or whoever you want to look at this
site/blog. Visitors can leave messages or comments on your site.
Nowadays there are also pretty comercial blogs of journalists and other
people even with Adsense ad´s on it.
Bouncing
If an email adress or site does not exist the
message or request will not arrive but bounce (return an
error).
Cloaking
When
you work as an affiliate you get your own unique link, so
the administration program knows who sent the client. This link is a
long link something like: www.sitename.com/?affiliatename. Now to make
this link a little bit nicer there are programs who translate this link
into a short link eg. like www.tinyurl/342654 this is called cloaking.
Converting / Conversion Rate
Converting
means converting a visitor into a buying client. The
conversion rate means the number of visitors who actually bought the
product.
CTR
The
relation between the number of times Google showed your Ad and
the number of times someone really clicked on it is called the click
through rate.
Domainname
The
unique name of a site on the
internet. This name needs to be registered and has to be unique. The
name can be extented by an extension. Check the register company for
the possibilities of extension and availabilty of the name.
Dreamweaver
One
of the most used tools to make sites. It is a WYSIWYG package,
programming by clicking, dragging and writing without using code.
DropShipping
A great
way to sell products on aution sites like eBay is the use of
dropship wholesalers. These are companies who have the products in
stock and send them anonimously in your name to the client. You sell
like the product is yours and when the client buys you ask the
dropshipper to ship the product directly to your client. You supply the
dropshipper/wholelsaler with the name and address of your client and
they will handle everything in your name. A very good and easy way to
sell without the need of stocking any product.
Ebook
An ebook
is a book in form of a downloadable file to be read on your computer.
Exchange Programs
These
progams work on the basis of exchanging visits/hits: you
visit other people sites and in exchange for that they visit your
site. This can be done in several ways for example if you visit 10
sites, 10 times your site will be shown to other participants of that
program.
Another way
of exchange sites is possible by putting a small code
inside your site. Every time someone leaves your site there will be
shown a
site of the exchange program. Your site will then be shown to
another person who participates the exchange program.
Ezines
Ezines are
electronic magazines send by publishers periodically about specific
topics by e-mail. This can be about everything from pets to health to
filosofy or whatsoever. You have to subscribe. Most you have to pay
for, some are free. It is like a magazine. In
these e-zines you can advertise your product. The advantage is that you
reach a specified targeted group. Sometimes these publishers send only
one ad with the article. This is called a soload. This is a very
powerful way to get clients.
FFA lists
This are
also called
safe lists and are lists you can subscribe to and in return you can
send free mails to the other subscribers. Disvantage is that you will
receive lots of emails in return.
Flash
Is a
computerlanguage to program short movies and animation to be used on
internet pages.
Frontend
One of
the most used tools to make sites. It is a WYSIWYG package,
programming by clicking, dragging and writing without using code.
FTP
To
upload a site or pages from your computer to the internet you need a
program which handles the transfer of the files from your computer to
the internetprovider. This done by an FTP program, a program that works
acording the standars of transfer: File Transfer Protocol. There are
many free FTP programs available on the internet.
Forums
Gravity
For example
in the click bank program you can look at products you want
to promote/sell as an affiliate. For every product clickbank shows some
details and one is the gravity which means the number of people who
already promote this product.
HTML
Hyper
Text Markup Language. This is the language used on the internet to
display sites. To make a site one can either learn and program directly
in this language or make use of one of the many WYSIWIG programs that
make it a lot easier to make sites without or with just a little
programming.
Hosting/Provider
After you made or got the site ready from a webdesigner and registered
the name (domainname) it should be uploaded/hosted on the Internet. The
Internet consists of an inumerous number of computers who are all
conected together worlwide. These computers/companies are called
providers and have stored the sites/pages people can see on the
Internet. They have standards for the conections and standard ways
(protocols) of transmitting the information. Every provider and every
computer with access to the Internet has a unique number (address)
called IP (Internet Protocol)-adres making it possible to send or
obtain information quickly to and from any computer connected to the
Internet in the world. You can choose any provider/company to put
(host) your site on.

Every
computer/user connected to the internet gets a unique adress number: an
IP (internet protocol number). With this number the user and adress can
be identified for any process on the internet.
Maillings/Email
Email is a
very powerfull means of marketing but should be used in the
right way. When someone sends out big numbers of e-mails just to
anybody, especially to people who did not ask or expect it this is
called Spamming. On the Internet spamming is not wanted and therefore
are build filters in e-mail providers to stop unwanted mass mail.
On the
other hand there are companies who sell good lists of people who
have opted (optin-lists) to receive commercial e-mails. Sometimes these
e-mail addresses (lists) are even separated by user groups like
profession or region etc. These lists you can buy, and then use special
software (programs) to send huge numbers of e-mails (bulkmail).
Another way
to get a good list of potential clients is to build a list
yourself (optin list). This can be done by putting a form on your site
where interested people fill out their e-mail address. A good and most
used way to get many e-mail addresses is to give away a special report
or something if the visitor fills out the form and gives you his e-mail
address. To make sure and be professional one can send an e-mail in
which the client confirms by clicking on a link that he really
subscribed to your list.

Metatags
In the beginning of the code of a site there is the possibility to put
keywords in a special tag/line for the search engines. These tags/lines
of program are called metatags.
MLM
Multi Level
Marketing.
From every product sold by someone you sold, you also get a small
comission, as well as from the sales they make. It depends on the
system how many levels deep you get the commission. Every level deeper
you get less comission but the numbers get quite high. Checkout the

Niche Market
A niche is
a marketing segment of a specific topic with a lot of
potential for sales. In other words it is not a general market like how
to make money but for example the market of how to improve your golf
playing. A niche is a market around / about a specific topic.
Optin page
An
optin-page is the same as a squeeze page. This is a page or site with
the only goal to get the email adress of a potential customer. It is
very important to get these adresses to build a list of potential
clients that can be mailed to every time.
PDF file
A
pdf file is a type of file with good presentation/layout and easy to
download. Therefore the most used type of file for ebooks and
downloadable reports. To make a pfd file you need the Adobe program or
a utility to convert your document into PDF format.
PLR
Public
Label
Rights. This means the rights of a publication. If someone offers
the public label rights it means you get the rights as the
publisher/author of the ebook or newsletter.
Photoshop
A very
powerfull but difficult to use program for changing pictures,
fonts and merging all types of graphics. These can be used on sites.The
program can work with layers and has a huge number of options and
functions.
Provider
Is a
central connection where your computer is connected to and via this
provider has acces to the entire internet.
RSS feeds
Sales page
A
page or site used to sell a product. The sales page is the final
selling page and besides the sales letter it has all the information
about payment, shipping and/or downloading the product.
Searchengines/SEO
There are
many ways to get people looking and finding your site. First
of all through the search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista
etc. People use these programs to look and find things on the Internet.
To get found, your site should have enough and good content. Many links
in the sites between the pages and also from other sites. Also should
include enough ´keywords´ the main words people
look for
related to your product or service. Getting found and get a good
ranking in the search engines got pretty complex nowadays and the rules
these engines use change and get optimised all the time. There are
people and companies specialised in the so called SEO Search Engine
Optimization to optimise sites to be found and get the best rankings.

Viral
marketing is a very good way to get free traffic. The trick is:
you write or buy a special report with a lot of infomation. In this
report are many times or sometimes links included to products of your
own or to products you sell as an affiliate. The report you give away
for free and you also stimulate other people to give away and pass on
this free report. This can be done to give it as a free bonus with
another product or just give it away in direct mail or public sites.
The idea is the more people read this report the more people will click
on the links of your sales sites or sites of products you promote as an
affiliate. Everybody can give away this report the only restriction is
that nobody is allowed to change it´s content and/or links.
